Senior yoga can be practiced alone, or in groups. Contrary to popular belief, yoga does not require years of practice to attain many positive results. In fact, many elderly people really look forward to their yoga exercise sessions not only for the increased vitality, but to have fun and interact with the instructor and other peers. The biggest key to succeeding is just getting started, this will enable you to experience these benefits.
A typical class will emphasize going at one’s pace without pushing or straining. Senior yoga can be practiced on a chair and will range from seated centering breathing exercises, warms up, gentle poses to play with the mind and breadth, and stretches to the tune of delightful music. We can also incorporate laughter yoga. There is no need to dress up or buy special clothing when getting ready to pull up a chair. Loose fitting clothes will do.
